product attributes and stock levels

If I sell clothing, say a dress, it might come in 10 sizes and 4 colors. I think I should be adding two custom fields, one for color and one for size. But that will not help me, as:

1. I need to know for each product what sizes we have in that exacct product. Some dresses might be available in sizes 2-10, others 2-18, etc.

2. How can I manage stock levels> I need to know not just that I received 1200 dresses, but the exact colors and sizes I received.

  • hi,

    you should create sub products for the main product. for e.g.name of the product can be dress and two sub products can be with name sizes 2-10 and
    2-18.

    have a look at the product bundle manual in the following link

    <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/vtiger510:feature_product_bundles">http://wiki.vtiger.com/index.php/vtiger ... ct_bundles</a><!-- m -->
  • i looked at that, and it is closer, but it seems like i would have to enter many many many sub-products. a dress comes in 10 different sizes, and each of those sizes comes in 4 colors, for 40 combination of the one dress item.

    so i would have to enter for each dress 40 sub-products? what about inventory tracking? the options do not change the price, the dress is always $100 say.
  • produtc bundles is exactly not what he was asking for.

    what he wants is product options.

    every basic inventory management system, needs this. you need to have different options for different products. lets say color, size,...

    in magento they call this product options, custom options. even some options have different price. and stock levels.

    its seriously lacking the product management in vtiger.

    the vtiger is like pre sales pretty good, but once you make a sale how to track the products and inventory management? they didnt pay too much attention to this part in vtiger...
